  Wow!  I figured this might be a total tourist trap as a friend recommended it from a prior visit to Florence and he doesn't go for the more upscale places. We got a last minute reservation right at opening and very much enjoyed the dinner.  It was a little slow getting service (we were in the very back of the restaurant in a corner) and I did notice that other tables who arrived after us were attended to more promptly.  However, the food was the star here.
  
  Be sure to try the house speciality pasta although other pasta dishes were great- this one was sublime. It is on the menu.  And, it was a huge first course.
  
  Then I had Osso buco- my first authentic osso buco and oh my.  It was stellar.  
  
  There were Italians in the restaurant too- always a good sign.  There are a lot of places to eat in Florence but this one is worth seeking out if you are in the vicinity.

  Trattoria 13 Gobbi was our five star dining experience in Florence, and what an experience it was. It was sheer luck that we scored a table on the busy evening that we wandered in, which portended great things. I had the steak on the recommendation of a friend that goes there, and he was absolutely right ... it's one of the five best steaks I've had in my life. My wife had some sort of ravioli dish that was to die for. The service was top notch, and we found ourselves in the company of some Canadians from Montreal that made our visit to this restaurant all the more enjoyable. We would happily go back to this restaurant to experience some of the best that Venice has to offer.

  I was on a mission to find exceptional Florentine steak. I found some places upon extensive internet research, though the first restaurant I tried going to (L'osteria Giovanni) didn't have room to seat me. So I came here and was glad I did. I sat at a little high stand area next to a lovely couple that happened to be friends with the owners. I ordered my steak and a glass of chianti, and loved this first meal (aside from aperitivo) in Florence. I truly felt like I was in a movie, as the atmosphere in this crowded restaurant was lovely, romantic, and full of culture. I stepped out onto the cobblestone streets happily full of my delicious steak. The portion is tremendous though, I was surprised and a little ashamed that I was able to get through 2/3 of it (it's a pound of meat). I highly recommend this spot for some delicious Tuscan food and atmosphere.

  On the recommendation of a local chef (check our Air BnB experiences- MICHELE). We called ahead, table for 5 at 7:30 on Saturday night. In 30 minutes! Hopped in a cab, we were there. Line out the door, busy busy busy! Greeted and seated- bottle of still water, house wine, and the recommendation- must-have-while-in-Florence....T-bone - giant steak- cooked rare is advised (we did med-rare- which was on the rare side of medium) - Chianina big- white cow, special to this region.  
  
  Holy wow I have no pictures (of the meat) we had the steak for 2, plus penne and meat sauce, bread service. We left very satisfied and full! We are a family of 5, 3 adults, 2 children.
  
  For sure put this on the itinerary....

  Magnifico!!! This place is amazing. We had to wait a few minutes maybe twenty minutes but as we were waiting a waiter came out with a tray of red and white wines in a glass for everybody waiting. That shows me that they care about the people outside. I was amazed by that it's rare you see that in the states but I have seen it. Once we got in after the short wait, the food was out of this world. It was recommended to us by close friends and it lived up its expectations. We are planning to come here again tomorrow night and maybe I can talk my wife into going here a third time before we leave haha just a truly magnificent place.
